I’m sure some of you have seen those wall outlet safes, they are one of the oldest type of diversion safe. They are basically what look to be a normal wall outlet that you’d plug in whatever device to. The difference is these outlets are not hooked up to your homes electricity and instead fold out to reveal a hidden compartment. The problem with most of these outlets safes is in the most popular models the plugs are upside down and don’t look like most other wall outlets you’d already have in your home.

Furniture With Secret Compartments

Here is another video for you guys. This piece of furniture is rather amazing, it has several drawers that pull out to reveal other hidden drawers while still looking normal from the outside. It appears to be a piece of antique furniture with hidden compartments. If anyone else has seen any other furniture with secret compartments feel free to leave a comment so I can check it out.

Diversion Safe for Drugs

When traveling with prescription drugs and staying in hotels a medicine bottle can be the prime target of theft by the cleaning staff. If you are staying in a hotel that doesn’t have a safe in each room than I’d suggest you travel with a diversion safe to hide your drugs from any hotel staff that might be in your room when you’re not. Now keep in mind since you are traveling a lot of the normal diversion safes such as a stash can made out of a cleaning supply can will obviously be out of place.

I’d personally use a diversion safe such as this one that looks like a normal water bottle. Not only does it fit in with the things you’d have on vacation but most all people wouldn’t think that anything was hidden in a water bottle that they can see water in. As always keep your drugs away from children.

I have not came across many diversion safes or hiding spots that I felt were designed for what someone who wanted to hide a gun would want to use. There doesn’t seem to be many manufactures of furniture that has compartments to hide a handgun at home but this guy seems to have it figured out. I would highly suggest that people use common sense with anything like this, since it is only a switch that unlocks the compartment anyone who knows the switch is there can access your gun. If you had a bit of woodworking ability this video might give you your own ideas on how to build a secret gun safe yourself. Remember that common sense everyone.

My Feelings on Hide A Key Devices

One of the most popular kind of diversion safes over the years has been ones that are intended to hide a key. This makes sense to me, because it sucks to be locked out of your own house or car just because you left your key somewhere, that’s for sure when a hidden key can can come in handy in those circumstances.

I also see a few downsides to these kind of devices. For one, if for example you have a fake rock somewhere in your yard that has a hidden key inside it, then that means someone else can get that key just as easy as you can. So make sure that no one sees you when you go hide your key for the first time. I would also suggest moving the keys hidden location every time you return to it to use it.

Some tips I’d give anyone who uses a hide a key type of diversion safe to hide an extra key is to make sure the location is not obvious. Make sure the device blends in and that it won’t be found by some random person just wandering through your yard for whatever reason. Whatever you do, do not leave an extra house key under your welcome mat.
